AFL Top Player, 2044 Choice Is Sunseri
Saturday, February 20th, 2044
At the age of 25, John Sunseri of the Miami (AFL) Marlins could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2044 was good enough to win the third baseman the Arizona Fall League Most Valuable Player.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .361 batting average this year, as well as a .451 on-base percentage. He played 32 games and racked up 44 hits, 8 doubles, no triples, 16 home runs, 37 RBIs and 34 runs scored.
He received 20 first place votes out of a possible 30. Justin Gatrell of the Pittsburgh (AFL) Pirates finished second in voting with 10 first place votes, while Emmanuel Montero of the Seattle (AFL) Martiners finished third.

Kelso Sets New Mark for Strikeouts
Sunday, February 7th, 2044
There a new King of the Hill in baseball -- a new strikeout king, that is. Chris Kelso of the Pittsburgh (AFL) Pirates passed pitcher Jon Zullo in career strikeouts and now has the record. He collected strikeout number 82 and set the new standard at Managua Fields today.
"Jon Zullo is in a league by himself," Kelso said after the game. "It's unbelievable that I broke his record."
For the season Kelso is 0-and-0 with 1 save and a 1.91 ERA. He has given up 24 hits in 28.1 innings with 45 strikeouts.
