Josh Potter has won the 2068 National League Rolaids Relief Man Award, which at age 36 is a “milestone achievement” for the Washington Nationals reliever.

“I feel accomplished to win this when there are other younger, stronger, harder-throwing guys out there,” he said.

The Linton Hall, Virginia native’s numbers speak for themselves, as he captured the award with 36 saves in 71 relief appearances, compiling 83 innings. He had 103 strikeouts and 30 walks, a record of 3-3 and an ERA of 1.52.

He received 29 first place votes out of a possible 30. Omar Machuca of the Los Angeles Dodgers finished second in voting, while Jason Gerhardt of the St. Louis Cardinals finished third.
